Keeping Your Home Organized

After we set up our new place, I was surprised to see just how many boxes we had. We had a lot more stuff than we needed, and I had to do something to create a more organized area. I began looking for solutions, and I found a storage facility that was just down the street from us. I talked with them about the sizes they had available, and I booked a unit that I thought would work. After using the storage facility, our new place was cleaner and much more organized. I wanted to start a website all about moving and storage, since you never know what kinds of problems you will face in a new place.

What Charges Can You Expect From An International Moving Company?

Moving from one country to another can be hectic, whether you're moving on your own or with your family. One nagging question will be how much the move will cost. It can be difficult to estimate, especially if you've never had international dealings before. But things can go smoothly with the help of an experienced international mover. However, it is good to know the charges you can expect from these moving companies. Here are the most common types of charges you can expect from an international moving company:

1. Moving and Transportation Costs

If you're planning to move abroad, be prepared for a hefty bill. Moving a container can cost several thousand dollars depending on several factors, including:

  1. Size and bulk of the cargo
  2. Distance of the move
  3. Transportation method
  4. Shipping route

2. Packing and Unpacking Costs

If you want to engage a full-service mover, they will be responsible for packing and unpacking. This arrangement is advantageous for both parties. You can rest easy knowing that your items are handled by professionals who know how to pack fragile items.

The moving company makes sure they are not carrying any illegal items. This cost will show up in your invoice, depending on the bulk of the items.

3. Storage Costs

If you are relocating internationally and storing your belongings for a while, it's important to know what costs you expect from an international moving company. If your items are being stored at an international moving company's office or warehouse, you may have to pay storage fees on top of transportation costs. Remember, you may need to keep things in storage as you look for a new home.

4. Customs Duty and Other Applicable Taxes

If you're moving internationally, you'll need to pay your country's duties and taxes upon arrival. These include items like customs and import duties. You may also be asked to pay other fees, including handling or storage charges or even administrative processing fees - these can be expensive, so try to consider them when estimating your overall costs. The mover usually takes care of all these costs, then passes them on to you on the invoice.

5. Moving Insurance Premium

Packing your belongings and shipping them from one country to another is expensive and vulnerable to various risks, including damage and loss. That's why it's important to get moving insurance for any damage or loss during transit. The mover insures your belongings and charges you the premium.

Moving across borders can be hectic but manageable with experienced professional help. Contact an international moving company to find out cost estimates for your upcoming move.
